S & S Optical Company, Inc. was founded in 1950 as a producer of lenses for the ophthalmology industry. The business thrived and diversified in the mid 1950s into faceplates for electronic tubes and other glass and quartz parts for optical, industrial, aerospace and military applications.
Taking the cue from industry trends and technology, S & S Optical invested in optronics tools and hardware to become specialized in precision glass and precision quartz grinding, polishing and machining. The business has continued to grow into electronics, undersea marine, aircraft and other industry sectors by broadening its fabricating capabilities and continuing to add to its high quality precision optical services.
Today S & S Optical Company, Inc. is a well established custom fabricator of precision glass and quartz parts operating from its manufacturing facility in New Haven, Indiana.
